Object interaction
In the XR Client, you can interact with objects in the environment.
This includes picking up, moving, and touching objects.
Interactive objects can often be recognized by a highlight that appears when your hand or cursor is nearby.
Picking up and moving
Some objects are interactive and can be picked up.
These include tools (such as a marker or laser pointer) or objects that are configured as interactive.
In XR:
Use the trigger (under your middle finger) or make a grab gesture with hand tracking.
Release by letting go of the trigger or opening your hand.On Windows:
Hold the right mouse button on an object and move your mouse to reposition it.
Release to place the object.
On Windows, objects are automatically placed at the correct depth while moving.
Touching
Some objects respond to touch.
In XR:
Touch the object with your controller or hand.
Depending on the setup, this may use your hand, palm, or specific fingers. On Windows:
Move your cursor over the object and click the right mouse button to trigger interaction.
Using tools
Some objects (such as a marker or laser pointer) have additional functions.
- Use the trigger under your index finger for the secondary action
(for example drawing or toggling the laser on/off) - With hand tracking, do this by moving your index finger up or down
These additional functions are only available in XR.
Differences between XR and Windows
On Windows, you can perform many of the same interactions as in XR, but not all.
